Environmental Information Process Certification Program (ISO 14025 Product Level)

What you need to know

Process Certification provides an alternative to standard Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) verification, supporting manufacturers with multiple products and product groups with varied Product Category Rules (PCRs). It enables manufacturers to generate transparent and systematic environmental information for their products.

For companies with broad product portfolios, external environmental data preparation is often complex due to high calculation, validation/verification and administrative efforts. Process Certification ensures reliable data through continuous monitoring and verified sampling. The established testing and monitoring system assesses the plausibility of data and calculations, fostering trust in the verification process.

Key Elements:

  • Monitoring of the process on site, in particular
    • the procedure for preparing the information,
    • the quality system, as well as the existence/functioning of the necessary procedures for the evaluation of the quality system and verification of the existence and functioning of the necessary procedures,
    • the sampling of documents for verification,
    • the validation/verification of the declared product composition and the of primary and secondary data used in the sample.
  • Sampling of environmental information for post-validation/verification.

Process certification establishes a documented and verifiable system, ensuring consistency in environmental data.
