The Directive 97/23/CE (PED) regulates the planning, building up, equipping and the safe setting-up of pressure equipment.
All manufacturers of pressure equipment which is subjected to a projected maximum pressure more than 0,5 bar and intended to be introduced on the market of the European Union for the first time, is settled by the Directive 97/23/CE, in order to guarantee the safety requisites requested by the market.
Pressure equipment, in order to be introduced into the market, has to satisfy the basic requisites articulated in Attachment I of the Directive, and has to carry the CE Mark, followed by the notification number of the Notified Body.
The PED only concerns the introduction of pressure equipment into the European market, and it does not provide any directions that regard the requisites involving handling and maintenance of these devices; these requisites are defined by national Regulations.
The support provided by Kiwa Cermet Italia to the manufacturer is constant, starting from the initial stage during which particular attention is put on the choice of the conformity evaluation procedure (“modules”) among the selection pointed out in the text of the Directive and useable for specific equipment, to the analysis of the technical dossier, and during the inspection aimed to issue the certification; the support is also extended to the subsequent monitoring stage, in the cases where this is applicable.
