Kiwa seeks to provide its clients with reliable assessments and specialized technical advisory ensuring legal compliance and the lowest health risk levels possible.

Exposure to Chemical Agents

The assessment of exposure to chemical agents consists in measuring the air working environment of the workplace and its comparison with normative values of reference. This assessment should be done in all places where there is a risk of exposure.

The chemical agents may be caused by solid particles resulting from the handling of products that are in the form of dust or by the disintegration originating from mechanical processes. They may also originate from the fluid handling chemicals or in the form of gas.

The monitoring is performed according to the standards and current applicable legislation.

The main testing by Kiwa are:

  • Total Particles (NIOSH 0500: 1994)
  • Respirable Particles (NIOSH 0600: 1998)
  • Collection and determination of several chemicals (VOCs, metals, silica, asbestos, etc

Thermal Environment

The evaluation of the thermal environment is an evaluation of a number of thermal variables of the job that influence the worker’s body, thus being an important factor that intervenes directly or indirectly in the health and wellness of the same, and the achievement of tasks assigned to it.

The Thermal comfort assessment is based on ISO 7730 and the Thermal stress assessment is based on the WBGT index (Wet Bulb Globe Temperature), according to ISO 7243.

Assessment of Lighting Levels

The assessment of lighting levels is an evaluation of the lighting conditions in the workplace and serves to verify their suitability for the tasks to be developed in the workplace.

The monitoring is performed according to the standards and current applicable legislation.

Exposure to Artificial Optical Radiation

The assessment of exposure to artificial optical radiation is an evaluation of workplaces where workers may be exposed to levels of optical radiation from artificial sources above the exposure limit values.

The monitoring is performed according to the standards and current applicable legislation.
