Independent Certification for vital Smoke Control System Maintenance

SMR 01 is a structured and audited third party certification scheme designed specifically for organisations that maintain smoke control and smoke ventilation systems.  

The scheme verifies organisational management systems, service engineer competence and on-site performance providing dutyholders with confidence that maintenance is carried out competently, consistently and in line with recognised standards.

    Office Competency Assessment

    Evaluation of management systems, technical procedures, engineer competence records and quality controls

    Service Engineer Site Inspection Audit

    Observation of service engineer maintenance visit(s) to verify technical competence and practical implementation

    Non-Conformity Review

    Any findings are categorised and must be addressed within agreed timeframes

    Certification Decision

    Successful organisations are awarded SMR 01 certification and entered onto the IFC Certification register

    Ongoing Surveillance

    Annual surveillance audits and periodic site inspections ensure continued compliance. The number of service engineer site inspections required is determined by the number of employed service engineers, ensuring proportional oversight
