What is UKCA Marking
Certification for Fire Safety and Security Products
The UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) mark is the post-Brexit replacement for CE marking in Great Britain. It applies to most goods previously requiring CE marking, including fire safety products. UKCA marking confirms that a product meets minimum requirements set out in technical specifications, enabling it to be legally placed on the GB market.
Important Notice:
In October 2024, the UK Government indefinitely extended the recognition of CE marking for construction products. This means manufacturers can continue using CE marking alongside UKCA for the foreseeable future.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is IFCC a UK Approved Body for UKCA marking?
A: Yes. IFC Certification Ltd is Approved Body No. 1720 under the Construction Products Regulation.
Q: Can I still use CE marking?
A: Yes. CE marking is still recognised in Great Britain for construction products — indefinitely extended by the UK Government.
Q: What types of fire safety products can be UKCA marked?
A: Fire doors, glass, ducts, dampers, smoke control systems, steel protection products, and more.
Q: How long does certification take?
A: Timelines vary, but our streamlined process and expert support ensure fast turnaround.
Q: What documentation do I need to prepare for UKCA certification?
A: You’ll need a technical file including product specifications, test reports, risk assessments, and evidence of Factory Production Control (FPC). Our team will guide you through compiling and reviewing these documents.
Q: Is UKCA marking mandatory for all fire safety products?
A: UKCA marking is required for products covered under the UK Construction Products Regulation when placed on the GB market. Not all fire safety products fall under this scope — we can help you determine if your product qualifies.
Q: Can IFCC help with both initial certification and ongoing surveillance?
A: Yes. We provide full lifecycle support — from initial assessment and certification to annual audits and re-certification, ensuring continued compliance and market confidence.
Q: What happens if my product fails part of the assessment?
A: We’ll provide detailed feedback and support to help you address any non-conformities. Our goal is to help you achieve certification efficiently, without compromising on quality or compliance.
Q: Is UKCA marking recognised outside the UK?
A: UKCA is specific to Great Britain. For international markets, CE marking or other regional certifications may be required. We can advise on multi-market strategies and help you navigate overlapping requirements.
Q: How does UKCA marking affect product labelling and packaging?
A: Once certified, your product must display the UKCA mark clearly and permanently. We’ll advise on correct labelling practices to ensure compliance with UK regulations.
