It’s a technical document that defines the overall scope of approval, based on fire resistance test evidence, whether that be one or many test reports

Can KFS assess site specific modifications to tested products and assemblies?

Yes. Through its Technical Assessment service, KFS evaluates deviations from the tested specification, such as site tolerances, alternative materials/components and offers expert judgement to ensure that the required level of fire resistance performance is achieved.

How does KFS provide independent assurance?

KFS remains fully independent from manufacturers, installers, and labs. With no commercial pressure, we supply impartial, technically justified reports based upon test evidence, giving our clients confidence in your product’s performance. We work in line with the Passive Fire Protection Forum “Guide to Undertaking Technical Assessments of Fire Performance of Construction Products Based on Fire Test Evidence”, which is cited in Approved Document B.

While KFS doesn’t run its own labs, we can support clients the entire testing process from booking to interpreting results and generating Technical Assessments.
