This is for manufacturers and distributors of domestic products.
The requirements in summary:
In order to assess your own product you must have the calibrated equipment required to meet the requirements of EN62301 (Household electrical appliances - measurement of standby power). This requires:
- Stabilised supply with 1% for voltage and frequency
- Supply waveform harmonics not to exceed 2%
- Power measurement accuracy = 0.01W (at 95% confidence level)
- Test room at 23C and = 0.5m/s air speed.
OR we can do it for you, providing you with an independent report stating the consumption.
In 2005, an estimated 47TWh corresponding to 19 million T of CO2 was used on domestic products in the standby mode. This directive is estimated to save 35TWh by 2020 (equivalent to 14 million tonnes of CO2).
