Draft BRL K17504-04 published for comments
On the 16th of September 2024 Kiwa publishes the Draft Evaluation Guidelines BRL K17504/04 d.d. 27-05-2024; “Evaluation Guideline for the Kiwa product certificate for vulcanised rubber products for cold and hot drinking water applications”, for comments.
Until November 1st, 2024 the guideline is available for comments at Kiwa Nederland B.V.
The most important changes are:
- Amendment BRL K17504/03 of 29-07-2021 is now included in the BRL text.
- The description of temperature Class II was changed slightly to meet the descriptions as mentioned in ISO 9631.
- A separation as made into type A and B materials, to meet ISO 9631 (Butyl rubber (IIR) is a type B material).
- The specification for O-rings/ press-fit rings with a cross section of 4 mm and lower have slightly altered values on tensile properties, ageing (type A and B materials) and compression set (Type B only)
- Demands on stress relaxation were updated according to ISO 9631.
- Updates of tables (mechanical properties) in Annex A.
- Updated description of material certification in Annex F.
- Updated description in Annex H (demands for O-rings)

Evaluation guideline changes
An evaluation guideline or ‘Beoordelingsrichtlijn’ (BRL) is a package of requirements that a product or service can meet to demonstrate a certain guarantee of quality and legality. Kiwa offers BRLs in various subject areas. The requirements in a BRL are drawn up by an independent Board of Experts. A product or service is assessed by Kiwa on the basis of those requirements. When we introduce a new BRL or when a BRL changes, we will publish these BRL's.
