Infrastructure and geotechnical consulting

Infrastructure projects depend on a deep understanding of site conditions, engineering constraints, and long-term performance expectations. Geotechnical and infrastructure consulting provide the technical foundation for safe, resilient, and cost-effective development across transportation, civil works, utilities, energy systems, and large-scale construction programs. Kiwa supports agencies, developers, and engineers with independent consulting services grounded in field data, engineering analysis, and decades of practical project experience.

Our services include

What We Do

Kiwa provides comprehensive geotechnical and infrastructure consulting services to support planning, design, construction, and operations. Our teams conduct subsurface investigations, analyze soil and rock behavior, evaluate foundation and pavement conditions, assess infrastructure risks, and advise on engineering strategies.

We help project owners and design teams understand geologic conditions, develop appropriate structural and foundation solutions, anticipate construction challenges, and ensure projects comply with engineering standards and regulatory frameworks.

Our consulting work spans site characterization, geotechnical engineering, constructability analysis, infrastructure condition evaluation, and technical oversight for transportation, civil, industrial, and utility projects.

Why This Matters

Subsurface uncertainty is one of the leading causes of change orders, delays, and performance issues in infrastructure projects. Without accurate geotechnical insight, organizations face risks such as:

  • Foundation settlement and instability
  • Unexpected soil or groundwater conditions
  • Pavement failures
  • Slope instability or embankment issues
  • Increased construction cost and schedule impacts

High-quality infrastructure and geotechnical consulting mitigates these risks by delivering reliable data early, enabling efficient design, and improving long-term asset performance.

How Kiwa Delivers Value

Kiwa combines geotechnical expertise with multidisciplinary engineering insight to provide solutions that are both technically rigorous and practical for real-world construction environments.

Our teams leverage advanced investigation methods, accredited laboratories, and extensive field experience to develop recommendations grounded in actual site conditions. Kiwa’s independent assessments help owners make informed decisions, reduce construction risk, and develop infrastructure that performs consistently throughout its lifecycle.

Additionally, our strong presence in transportation and public infrastructure projects allows us to support agencies with compliant, high-quality engineering documentation and technical justification.

Story

Fort Alamo: Raba Kistner preserves a historic American landmark

Since 2019, Raba Kistner’s Cultural Resources team have been working on The Alamo, a historic Spanish mission and fortress founded in the 18th century, located in San Antonio, Texas. The objective of the project was to assess the condition of the Church and the Long Barrack, the oldest buildings on the Alamo historic site and where many Texian rebels made their last stand in the 1836 battle for Texas’ independence from Mexico.
