What is the Digital Product Passport?
The Digital Product Passport (DPP) is a structured, digital dataset that documents a product throughout its entire life cycle. The EU is gradually incorporating it into its product regulations, starting with batteries under Regulation (EU) 2023/1542. Additional product groups will follow under the Ecodesign Regulation for Sustainable Products (ESPR).
The Digital Product Passport is designed as a compliance infrastructure and provides verifiable documentation of a product throughout its entire life cycle. Structured, interoperable, and independently verified data are crucial.
