Product Assessments: LCA, EPD, and PCF/CFP
The new EU Construction Products Regulation (CPR) 2024 tightens requirements for CE markings and sustainability certificates. As an accredited Notified Body and EPD experts, we provide information about changes and support manufacturers in achieving full CPR compliance from readiness testing to validation.
The EU Construction Products Regulation (CPR) harmonizes requirements for construction products in the European single market and removes technical barriers to trade between member states. It ensures that construction products are assessed uniformly across the EU, receive a declaration of performance and CE marking, and will also include environmental and sustainability information in the future.
On December 18, 2024, the revised CPR (Regulation EU 2024/3110) was published in the EU Official Journal. It entered into force on January 7, 2025, and will apply from January 8, 2026. The amended CPR establishes environmental aspects as an integral part of the declaration of performance and places greater emphasis on the circular economy and recyclability of construction products.
The CPR applies to almost all players in the construction products sector, including:
It covers both traditional construction products and, for example, used construction products, digital data sets, and services for 3D printing.
Without CPR compliance
With CPR compliance + sustainability certificates:
CPR 2024 requires gradual environmental indicators:
Phase 1 (from 2026 for prioritized categories):
Phase 2 (gradually until 2030):
As an accredited EPD program holder, we create EN 15804 compliant environmental product declarations that can be directly integrated into digital product passports and declarations of performance.

The new CPR (Regulation (EU) 2024/3110) came into force on January 7, 2025. Transition periods regulate how long existing regulations can continue to be used and it is crucial to prepare for the new requirements at an early stage.
In addition to traditional performance characteristics, environmental and sustainability indicators must also be included in the declaration of performance in future. This requires reliable data from LCA/EPD and validated sustainability reports.
Not mandatory, but EPD data makes it much easier to meet the new environmental requirements especially if you want to be listed in sustainable construction projects (e.g., DGNB, BNB).
That depends heavily on your product portfolio, data depth, and existing systems. With the CPReadiness Check, you will quickly receive a structured overview and prioritization of your next steps.
