Testing for Product Electrical Safety
Electrical safety testing verifies that your product is electrically and mechanically safe, meeting applicable international standards and market regulations. For radio-enabled products under RED, safety requirements must also be met. Evidence from UKAS-accredited testing and CB Scheme reports supports national certifications and UKCA/CE and global conformity.
Examples of markets & certifications supported:
UK & EU:
-
UKCA: The Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations
-
CE: Low Voltage Directive (LVD 2014/35/EU) (drop down with further information below)
The Low Voltage Directive (LVD) 2014/35/ EU is related to the safety of electrical equipment and issued by the European Union (EU). For manufacturers and distributors, who want to sell their electrical equipment in the EU, it is mandatory their product is compliant to the LVD. When the testing, documentation and certification has been completed, a CE mark can be applied on their product. Without the CE Mark it is not possible to legally enter the European market. The testing and evaluation services of electrical products conducted by Kiwa according to applicable product standards which are aimed at manufacturers of multiple types of appliances and consumer goods, including:
-
Appliances for domestic and similar use
-
Information Technology and office equipment
-
Electrical equipment for measurement, control and for use in the laboratory
-
Automatic electrical command and control devices
-
Static Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS)
-
Lighting fixtures
-
Associated machines and panels
-
Electric toys
-
IECEE CB Scheme: CB Test Report & Certificate for global acceptance (drop down with further information below)
At KEC, we provide comprehensive safety assessments under the IECEE CB Scheme, helping manufacturers achieve international compliance with confidence. This globally recognised system enables mutual acceptance of test reports and certificates, streamlining access to markets worldwide.
Our CB Scheme Testing Covers:
HOUS – Household appliances, electrical tools, and similar equipment (IEC 60335-1)
ITAV – Audio/video, information and communication technology equipment (IEC 62368-1)
MEAS – Electrical equipment for measurement, control, and laboratory use (IEC 61010-1)
These primary safety standards complement our UKAS accreditation and EMC/radio testing services, ensuring a complete solution for your product certification needs.
CB Scheme Benefits for Manufacturers:
-
Complete testing solution for international product safety
-
Recognition of test reports for national certification in CB Scheme member countries
-
Potential acceptance by many non-member countries
-
Faster, streamlined certification process
-
Reduced overall costs for manufacturers
