Why is Organic Certification Required in Mexico?
Through Circular Letter No. 16-2018, SENASICA informed organic operators and producers that any agri-food products produced within Mexican territory and marketed as organic must be certified in accordance with the Organic Products Law and applicable Mexican regulations.
This requirement applies regardless of the final destination of the products and irrespective of whether the products already hold any other official or private organic certification. SENASICA established a maximum compliance period of 120 calendar days beginning on August 27, 2018.
