About the BDA Folding Device

The principle of the test is to place a looped test specimen in the BDA Folding Device. The looped test specimen is exposed to a specified low temperature for one hour. Then the folding apparatus is closed within one second and maintained this position for one second. After the test specimen has been warmed to room temperature it is examined for cracks and/or fractures.

It is also possible to have a special BDA Folding Device, type M, to combine with the BDA Bending Tester?. Using this combination the contact between hands and the cold liquid are reduced to a minimum. Because testing with the BDA Folding Device, type M is performed in a liquid cooling agent this is not in accordance with the test standard EN 495-5, which prescribes a cold chamber with air circulation.
