Insufficient concrete cover promotes corrosion of the reinforcement contained within the structural elements. The greater the cover, the better the reinforcement is protected against damage caused by moisture ingress, chlorides, carbon dioxide, or fire exposure. Thus, the controlled measurement of concrete cover is not only required during the acceptance of construction work but also represents a key consideration for the execution of renovation and repair work.

Corrosion on steel or prestressed concrete components not only causes damage such as discoloration or concrete spalling but also weakens the reinforcement cross-section. This can have significant implications for the structural stability of the affected structures. The largely non-destructive measurement of concrete cover is a simple and quick method for identifying potential critical areas in concrete components.
Local or area-wide measurement of concrete cover is performed using specialized measuring devices based on a magnetic induction method. By scanning the concrete surface, it is possible to determine the position of the reinforcement within the components as well as the existing concrete cover, so that probe openings need to be made at only a few reference points.
In addition to the recorded measurement values, the expert reports and test reports we prepare also include, upon request, comprehensive analyses with graphical representations of the reinforcement recorded in the structural element and an assessment of the condition found in accordance with the requirements of DIN EN 1992-1 as well as the DBV Technical Note "Concrete Cover and Reinforcement According to Eurocode 2."
