Determination of softening temperature
The Vicat Softening Temperature Determination test in accordance with UNI EN ISO 306 and UNI EN ISO 2507 standards is aimed at plastics manufacturers and processors and is designed to determine the temperature close to the thermal transition of polymers, i.e., the loss of the solid consistency of the plastic material.

The services of the Kiwa Italia Plastics Laboratory, accredited LAB No. 0001L by ACCREDIA, are aimed at plastics producers and processors who wish to check the characteristics of finished plastic products, both at performance and polymer recognition levels.
The VICAT Softening Temperature Determination test usually corresponds with good approximation to the glass transition temperature in the case of amorphous polymers and to the melting temperature in the case of semi-crystalline polymers, and roughly indicates the limit of use of a given material as a function of temperature (understood as instantaneous maximum temperature, not continuous use temperature).
