Our approach to technical damage investigation
Depending on the nature of the dispute we carry out investigations on site or in our fully equipped laboratory. The investigation generally consists of the following steps:
Inventory of complaints
We start by collecting and analyzing reported issues to determine the investigation direction.
Testing failing appliances or components
Defective appliances or components are tested for abnormal operation, increased emissions or other performance deviations. Our experts use calibrated measuring instruments to ensure accurate and reliable results.
Locating and analyzing the problem
Based on many years of experience the problem is localized. Components are carefully dismantled and analyzed using methods such as microscopy, gauge measurements and material analysis.
Determining the technical cause
Based on the analysis results we determine the technical cause of the failure, clarifying which factors contributed to the defect.
Reporting and advice
Kiwa prepares an investigation report with a description of the method, tools used, investigation results and an expert conclusion. This report can be used to improve production processes or in disputes for arbitration or legal proceedings. If desired, Kiwa can make recommendations to remedy the problems and also provide support in implementing the solution.
Independent expertise and objectivity
At Kiwa technical expertise is key. Our independent experts combine deep knowledge of combustion, design and regulations with many years of experience in damage investigation and objective assessment of gas-fired equipment. Whether it concerns material damage, liability issues or conflicts between parties, we provide transparent and reliable analyses you can rely on.
Boil-off safety system for vehicles using cryogenic hydrogen
In addition to hydrogen gas, liquefied hydrogen can also make an important contribution to more sustainable means of transport. However, an important point of attention when using cryogenic hydrogen is the boil-off when the ambient temperature causes the ice-cold gas to heat up.
