Smart gas applications for professional kitchens
More information?
Our expertise includes:
- Development of large kitchen appliances such as combi steamers, rotisserie ovens, steam cooking kettles and stoves
- Optimization of existing appliances for efficiency, lifetime, production costs and dimensions
- Adaptation of products to applicable regulations such as the Gas Appliance Regulation (GAR) and international standards such as CSA and ANSI
Four-step development process
In a development project we typically follow these four steps:
Defining the scope
Together with the customer we define the scope of the project, including relevant regulations, market developments and technological innovations that can make the appliance more efficient, robust or cost-effective.
Concept development and selection
We generate several concepts that match the customer’s needs. The most suitable concept is selected and developed into a functional model to demonstrate its operation.
Building and testing the functional model
The functional model is built by the customer, our workshop or a third party. Kiwa configures and tests the model in the gas laboratory, performs optimizations and ensures that it is safe, reliable and energy-efficient.
Verification and market-ready product
The proven concept is integrated into the final product by the client. Kiwa performs a final verification in the laboratory and can conduct accelerated lifetime testing if desired. This ensures the product can confidently be submitted for certification and market introduction.
Customer result
Upon completion the customer receives a proven reliable and efficient product ready for certification by a Notified Body and market introduction. With our support you can develop new appliances or improve existing ones so they meet the highest standards for energy efficiency, safety and robustness.
Boil-off safety system for vehicles using cryogenic hydrogen
In addition to hydrogen gas, liquefied hydrogen can also make an important contribution to more sustainable means of transport. However, an important point of attention when using cryogenic hydrogen is the boil-off when the ambient temperature causes the ice-cold gas to heat up.
Development of gas-fired equipment
Kiwa is an experienced development partner for manufacturers of domestic, large kitchen and small industrial gas-fired appliances. Whether it concerns stove burners, catalytic hydrogen burners, steam convection ovens or hydrogen burners for industrial bakeries, Kiwa’s Combustion & Advanced Testing (CAT) team supports the complete process from idea to production-ready prototype.
Reliable delivery sets for heating, cooling and hot water
A reliable delivery set is essential for the efficient and comfortable supply of heating, cooling and/or hot water. But how can you be sure that your delivery sets function properly and meet all requirements? At Kiwa, we combine technical expertise with practical solutions. We assist you with the selection, installation and management of delivery sets and act as an independent partner in case of disputes. Together, we ensure that your system is reliable and future-proof.
Independent technical damage investigation for gas-fired appliances
When gas-fired appliances or installations no longer function as intended this can lead to unsafe situations and conflicts about responsibilities. In many cases the root cause of a deviation or defect is not immediately clear. Kiwa’s Combustion & Advanced Testing (CAT) team can act as an independent expert to determine the technical cause and support an objective resolution.
Complex technical testing of combustion and thermal processes, appliances and installations
Kiwa’s Combustion & Advanced Testing (CAT) team helps companies solve technically complex challenges during product development, implementation and use. Our independent experts perform advanced tests, analyze results objectively and advise on robust technical solutions.
