Inspection and Certification Sprinkler Systems

Sprinkler systems are reliable fire protection systems applied worldwide. A sprinkler system is designed to detect, signal and control a starting fire. In many cases only a few sprinklers can extinguish a fire. Kiwa FSS has extensive knowledge of and experience with automatic sprinkler systems and therefore has the expertise to conduct sprinkler system checks and inspections.
Because in general, most occupants have never experienced an automatic sprinkler system in action, they often have no knowlegde of its functioning, possibilities and limitations. It is erroneously thought that proper functioning of a sprinkler system is assured after it has been installed. However, sprinkler system protection is a customized solution with its optimal functioning dependant on numerous factors.
Like no other, Kiwa FSS can comprehensively explain this overall picture. As an inspection body, Kiwa FSS specializes in the assessment of sprinkler protection effectiveness. This does not only include the sprinkler system in isolation, but also structural and organizational conditions under which the system has to function. Kiwa FSS assesses and validates this entire process, from design to end-use, based on both the CCV inspection schemes as compliance with standards. Kiwa FSS also conducts random inspections for certification bodies.

Your Inspection Conducted by Kiwa FSS Inspection
Read below which steps the inspection process consists of, up to and including the issuance of the inspection certificate.
Request for an Inspection
Would you like your (fire protection) system to be inspected by Kiwa FSS Inspection? If so, please contact us.
Quotation Acceptance
You will receive a quotation outlining the agreements and conditions applicable to the inspection. Once the signed quotation has been returned, the inspection process will be initiated.
Inspection Scheduling
After the quotation has been signed by both parties, the Kiwa FSS Planning Department will contact you to schedule the inspection. Following the appointment, you will receive a confirmation containing the details of the planned inspection.
Inspection Execution and Reporting
During the inspection, it will be determined whether the fire protection system complies with the applicable requirements. After completion of the inspection, the inspector records the findings and any non-conformities in an inspection report.
Review of the Inspection Report
The inspection report and its conclusion are subsequently reviewed to ensure the completeness, accuracy, and consistency of the assessment.
Non-Conformities and Corrective Actions
If deficiencies are identified, appropriate corrective actions must be implemented. These actions must be documented and supported with the necessary evidence, which is submitted to the inspector for review. Once the deficiencies have been resolved, the inspector will assess whether they can be closed. This assessment may be carried out administratively or through a re-inspection.
Decision on the Issuance of the Inspection Certificate
If the inspection results in a positive conclusion, an inspection certificate will be granted.
Issuance of the Inspection Certificate
Following a positive certification decision, the organization will receive the inspection report together with the corresponding inspection certificate.
K21045 Fire Protection Systems
The K21045 Fire Protection Systems Assessment scheme is a scheme for Testing, Inspecting and Certification (TIC) Fire Protection Systems.
Test/Measuring Trailer for Water-Based Extinguishing Systems Water Supply Capacity
The water supply capacity of water-based extinguishing systems shall be checked periodically to confirm whether the required capacity is still available. Kiwa R2B has a custom build test/measuring trailer equipped with a calibrated capacity meter and auxiliary hoses and fittings.
Internal Inspection of Sprinkler System Piping
An automatic sprinkler system must have a reliable pipe system for optimal operation. An internal Inspection of Sprinkler System Piping will give you an insight into the current condition of your sprinkler system.
Inspection and Certification Water Mist Systems
Kiwa FSS has a lot of experience inspecting and certifying water mist protection systems, based on both the CCV inspection schemes as compliance with standards. Kiwa FSS also conducts random inspections for certification bodies.
Kiwa FSS Testing: test lab for sprinklers
Sprinkler systems have proven to be a reliable fire-protection system for many years. However, many of these systems are showing their age and it is not uncommon to find sprinkler systems that were installed 25 or more years ago. The sprinklers in these systems are dated and will need to be replaced over time as a preventative measure.
K21045 SCP06 Fire Protection of Livestock in Stables Based on Water Mist Systems
The Specific Certification Programme SCP06 Fire Protection of Livestock in Stables based on Water Mist includes a test protocol designed to demonstrate the effectiveness of a fire protection system based on water mist in stables. SCP06 is implemented in accordance with the test, inspection, and certification scheme K21045 Fire Protection Systems and contains the requirements applied by Kiwa when applying for a product certificate.
Air Permeability Test Reporting
Gaseous fire extinguishing systems are often used as a fire protection system. As a fire safety expert, Kiwa FSS can measure the air permeability of a room and thus determine the effectiveness of the extinguishing system.
