From 1 April 2024 only companies and mechanics which are certified according to the SERMI (Security Related Vehicle Repair and Maintenance Information) guideline are allowed to work on components and software related to vehicle security. SERMI certification Independent Operator (IO) and one employee (IOe)

Start your certification here if you, as a car, body repair or motorhome company, work on security-related parts of vehicles. To do so, you need to apply for at least a SERMI certificate for your company and one mechanic, also called Independent Operator (IO) and Independent Operator Employee (IOe).

SERMI certification Remote Service Supplier (RSS) and one employee (RSSe)

Start your certification here if you provide remote services related to security-related parts of vehicles. For this, you need to apply for at least a SERMI certificate for your company and one employee, also called Remote Service Supplier (RSS) and Remote Service Supplier Employee (RSSe).

Effective date for mandatory SERMI certification postponed

SERMI, the mandatory certification for independent car, body repair and motorhome companies working on software and components related to theft prevention, has postponed its effective date of 1 August 2023 until further notice. SERMI is expected to communicate a new effective date in the second half of 2023.
