Kiwa quickly and effectively supports SanoMed with ISO 13485 certification

SanoMed Manufacturing BV produces cosmetics, wound care products and nutritional supplements. The Dutch company’s unique feature is the frequent use of natural ingredients such as honey and olive oil. But medical devices and products based on natural sources also have to comply with the applicable laws and regulations, so SanoMed turned to Kiwa for renewal of its ISO 13485 certification.

ViA: Temporary relaxation of sanctions due to high demand for SCL certifications

The introduction of the ViA scheme, effective January 1, 2022, has created an overwhelming demand for certifications according to the NEN Safety Culture Ladder (SCL) scheme. This has caused a capacity shortage in certification bodies, which has led the Governance Code Veiligheid in de Bouw (GCVB) to decide to temporarily relax the requirements imposed on the means of evidence. The PSV Academy, a soccer school for young talented football players, hosted by Dutch football club PSV, is the first to receive the Safe Sport Climate label (Label Veilig Sportklimaat). Revision ISO 13485:2016+A11:2021

The ISO 13845:2016 standard was revised and published by the European standardization bodies CEN and CENELEC in September 2021. The ISO 13485:2016+A11:2021 includes new annexes that align the requirements of the Medical Devices Regulation) and IVDR (In Vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices Regulation) with specific clauses of the standard.

Businesses given extra time to apply UKCA marking

The UK government has postponed the requirement for manufacturers to adopt the UK Conformity Assessment (UKCA) mark for goods placed in the UK market. Kiwa can advise on this somewhat complex area.

First Kiwa BRL K17701 certificate for low temperature heating manifolds issued to Uponor

At the beginning of June, Kiwa issued the first certificate in accordance with the BRL K17701 'Manifolds for hot water and chilled water'. The German Uponor received the certificate for the low temperature heating manifold 'Uponor Vario S manifold LS'. A group of experts, consisting of manufacturers, customers and Kiwa, started at the end of 2015 with the development of the BRL K17701 for certifying manifolds for underfloor heating and radiator connections.

Kiwa and Alliander open first Dutch hydrogen demo house

Kiwa and Alliander are opening the Hydrogen Experience Centre in Apeldoorn today: a demonstration and training location set up as a private home where professionals learn how to convert the natural gas supply in residential areas for hydrogen application. In the Hydrogen Experience Centre, Kiwa and Alliander demonstrate that hydrogen can be used excellently as a fuel in the built environment.

Elia puts safety first with Safety Culture Ladder certification

With the GoforZer0 programme, Belgian network provider Elia has maintained a strong focus on the safety of its business processes and employees over the last few years. Independent certifying body Kiwa Belgium has now awarded Elia for these efforts with the prestigious international Safety Culture Ladder (SCL) certificate.

Kiwa hydrogen specialists contribute to Toyota Mirai

From March this year it will be in the showroom, the new hydrogen powered Toyota Mirai. As usual, the Japanese car manufacturer did not go overnight in the development of its new vehicle and invested heavily in new components and techniques. Toyota turned to Kiwa to test new high pressure components for the new Mirai's hydrogen powertrain.
