What is LACP and what it includes
Kiwa T2 provides sewer lateral condition assessments in accordance with the National Association of Sewer Service Companies (NASSCO) Lateral Assessment Certification Program (LACP). LACP provides a standardized approach for coding, documenting, and evaluating the condition of sewer service laterals using CCTV inspection technologies.
Inspections can be completed either with or against the direction of flow. Where direct access is unavailable, specialized lateral launch equipment can be deployed from the mainline sewer and navigated through blind lateral connections to inspect the service lateral. This approach allows condition data to be collected without requiring direct access from the surface.
During the inspection, CCTV equipment records video of the lateral while trained personnel document observations using standardized LACP coding. Inspection results help identify structural defects, operational issues, root intrusion, infiltration, obstructions, and other conditions that may impact system performance.
Who is it for?
The Sewer Lateral Condition Assessment service by Kiwa T2 is intended for municipalities, water and wastewater utilities, consulting engineers, asset management professionals, infrastructure owners, developers, contractors, and organizations responsible for maintaining or rehabilitating sewer networks. This service is particularly valuable where the condition of service laterals must be evaluated for capital planning, rehabilitation programs, due diligence investigations, inflow and infiltration studies, pre-construction assessments, post-construction verification, and system performance reviews. These organizations are typically responsible for inspecting, maintaining, managing, designing, or upgrading underground wastewater infrastructure.
Benefits of LACP
- Provides a standardized and defensible assessment of sewer lateral condition.
- Identifies defects before they lead to service disruptions or costly failures.
- Supports long-term asset management and capital planning programs.
- Helps prioritize rehabilitation and maintenance activities.
- Enables inspection of laterals where direct surface access is unavailable.
- Creates consistent condition data that can be integrated into asset databases and engineering workflows.
- Supports due diligence, infrastructure renewal, and sewer system investigations.
