Use of Kiwa logo’s

Certification marks help demonstrate trust and compliance, but they must be used carefully. Incorrect use can create the impression that a product, service or activity is certified when it is not.

For MDR certification, there is no separate “MDR logo” or Kiwa MDR certification mark that clients may use. Where Kiwa has participated as the Notified Body in the applicable conformity assessment, the CE marking followed by Kiwa’s four-digit Notified Body number 1912 may only appear on the medical devices covered by the certification and on their applicable labelling. It may not be used as a general company logo or as a stand-alone promotional certification mark. This also accounts for the MDR logo on the certificate. Please also note that a type-examination certificate alone is not sufficient to use the Notified Body number, because the required additional conformity-assessment steps must first be completed.

Clients with a valid EN-ISO 13485 certificate may use the official Kiwa ISO certification mark provided by Kiwa, subject to the applicable instructions. It may only refer to the certified organisation, activities and scope. It must not be placed on a product, product label or product packaging, or be used in any way that suggests that Kiwa has certified the product itself. Where accreditation is referenced, the official artwork and applicable RvA requirements must be followed, without changing the design, proportions or colors, and without giving the accreditation mark greater prominence.

Please note that the ISO organisation’s own logo may not be used. ISO develops standards but does not certify organisations. You may refer in text to your certification, for example: “Our quality management system is certified to EN-ISO 13485:2016 by Kiwa Assurance B.V.” The ISO logo itself may not be copied, adapted or incorporated into your own artwork.

Always use the original files supplied by Kiwa, keep the mark unchanged and make sure that any reference remains accurate and unambiguous. Use must stop if certification expires, is suspended or is withdrawn. If in doubt, please contact your Kiwa representative before publication.
