Since 2012, Kiwa T2 delivered ASCE 38-compliant SUE services to support wastewater design and reduce underground utility risk.

  • Client: Jacobs / WSP Canada / Parsons / Hatch / CIMA+ / TMIG
  • Project owner: City of Toronto

Each year since 2012, our professionals have completed more than 60km of subsurface utility investigations across residential and high traffic arterials roads. Our teams provide the utility infrastructure information critical for the design of the new wastewater system with reduced risk by locating and designating the existing underground utilities and other anomalies.

Over the course of the project, Kiwa T2 has provided comprehensive Subsurface Utility Engineering including designating, Ground Penetrating Radar, LiDAR chamber scans, test holes, and CCTV sewer investigations, all completed in accordance with the ASCE 38 Standard. Deliverables are provided in the MicroStation format, allowing the data to be easily integrated into the City’s documents.

The Basement Flooding Program has been conducted in phases. First are the preliminary design phases. Phase 4 is now being complete, with Kiwa T2 providing comprehensive SUE services for each of these phases. Following preliminary design, the City tenders each Phase for detailed design plans. The Kiwa T2 team has provided additional SUE services for these phases as well. Preliminary design phase 5 is anticipated to be released in 2022 identifying additional areas across the Greater Toronto Area that require drainage improvements.
