Changes in Evaluation Guidelines or BRLs

Kiwa has declared the assessment guideline BRL K536-L binding as of 27 February 2026. This guideline defines the requirements for multilayer plastic piping systems with a metal inner layer for the transport of hot and cold drinking water within buildings.

Kiwa has declared the assessment guideline BRL 5613 binding as of16 March 2026. This guideline describes the requirements that plastic piping systems with a metal inner layer must meet for radiator connections in heating installations within buildings, in the context of certification with the KOMO quality mark.

A revision of BRL-K778 cement mortar lining of drinking water pipes and fittings) has been prepared and is published for public consultation.

As of 14 January 2026, the revised evaluation guideline BRL K17504/04 for vulcanised rubber products for cold and hot drinking water has been officially declared binding.

As of November, 11, 2024 a revised version of the Evaluation Guideline BRL-K614 is published binding.

The new draft-assessment directive BRL 5613 (KOMO) for “Plastic piping systems with metal inner layer intended for indoor heating installations: radiator connections” has been published for comments.

The new evaluation guideline BRL K536-L for “Plastics piping systems with metal inner layer intended for transport of hot and cold drinking water inside buildings” has been published for comments.

In the context of the entry into force of the Soil Quality Regulation 2022 (Rbk 2022), the National Assessment Guidelines BRL 5070, 5071, 5076, 5077, and 5080 have been revised. These revised BRLs will be published for comment starting July 29, 2025, with a comment period running until September 22, 2025.

As of July 4, 2025 the newly drawn up BRL-K14041 is declared binding. BRL-K14041 contains requirements for a product certificate for "Delivery sets”.

The new BRL K14101 "Hygienic aspects for Products in contact with drinking and hot water" has been declared binding as of 7th of July 2025.

The new BRL K14100 for the Kiwa product certificate for "General requirements for products in contact with drinking and hot tap water" has been declared binding as of 7th of July 2025.

A revised version of BRL 9208-2 for the Kiwa product certificate for "Pipes and fittings with smooth inner and structured outer wall for non-pressure underground sewerage made of PP or PE - Specific requirements" has been declared binding as of 27 June 2025.

A revised version of BRL 9208-1 for the Kiwa product certificate for "Pipes and fittings with smooth, structured wall for non-pressure underground sewerage made of PVC-U or PP - Specific requirements" has been declared binding as of 27 June 2025.

A revised version of BRL K17105 for the Kiwa product certificate for “Plastics piping systems of polyethylene for the transport of drinking water and raw water” has been declared binding as of 17 June 2025.

An updated version of BRL-K746 (Kiwa process certificate for the application of coating systems on metal surfaces of drinking water installation) is published (effective as per 21 March 2025).

Effective February 2, 2025 the newly drawn up BRL-K14027 is published for review and comments. BRL-K14027 contains the requirements for a product certificate for " Ductile iron pipes and couplings for wastewater”.
