Tests and evaluations of electrical products according to the LVD (Low Voltage Directive) and EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) directives are aimed at manufacturers of household appliances, lighting equipment, medical equipment, machinery or measuring instruments.
Electrical products are subject to CE marking as they fall under the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (2008/108/EC EMC) and, if supplied with alternating voltages between 50 and 1000V or continuous voltages between 75 and 1500 volts, under the Low Voltage Directive (2006/95/EC LVD).
Household appliances, equipment for DIY, cooking and lighting equipment, audio-video, measuring instruments and IT devices are just a few examples of the types of products that can benefit from this service. For other types of products such as machinery, including cleaning equipment or electromedical devices, there are also other specific directives such as the Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC MD) or the Medical Devices Directive (93/43/EC MED and its subsequent amendments).
The conformity of electrical products is managed through the application of harmonized standards that are grouped by families according to the sector of reference:
- Household appliances: EN 60335
- Lighting equipment: EN 60598
- Measuring instruments: EN 61010
- Information Technology: EN 60950
- Electric Tools: EN 60745
- Medical electrical devices: EN 60601
- Machines: EN 60204
