Required documents for SERMI certification

For both the application of a certificate for a company as well as for an employee, you should submit a number of documents, declarations and data in our portal. Discover on this page what you need to apply for a SERMI certificate.*

SERMI application for a company:

  • Upload a proof of registration in the trade register of the Chamber of Commerce (Austria: Gewerberegisterauszug Wirtschaftskammer, GISA) showing that you are in the automotive business. (Austria: § 94 Z 43 Karosseriebau- und Karosserielackiertechniker; Kraftfahrzeugtechnik (verbundenes Handwerk) oder § 94 Z 59 Metalltechnik für Metall- und Maschinenbau; Metalltechnik für Schmiede und Fahrzeugbau; Metalltechnik für Land- und Baumaschinen (verbundenes Handwerk)). Issued less than 6 months ago;
  • Provide a proof of legitimacy of the legal entity(ies);
  • Tick the box declaring that your company is engaged in legal activities;
  • Tick the box declaring that you do not carry out any work related to vehicle emissions (chiptuning);
  • Upload proof of company liability insurance with a minimum coverage of €1,000,000 for personal injury and €500,000 for property damage;
  • Provide a unique email address and mobile phone number of every employee to be SERMI certi­fied;
  • Have a digital declaration signed by the company’s legal representative that it complies with the procedural requirements;
  • Upload a Certificate of Good Conduct for Legal Entities (Austria: Strafregisterbescheinigung) issued less than 6 months ago.

SERMI application for an employee:

  • Upload a form of identifi­cation (ID or passport);
  • Upload a Certificate of Good Conduct (Austria: Strafregisterbescheinigung) issued less than 6 months ago;
  • Upload a proof of employment contract;
  • Tick the box declaring that the employee never had a SERMI certi­ficate revoked;
  • Tick the box declaring that the employee has more than two years of experience as an auto mechanic or at least completed a training for motor vehicle technician or motor vehicle mechatronics technician. Discover the training requirements of an Independent Operator employee (IOe) per country.

* The European Association is still compiling a so-called sanctioned interpretation list. It is possible that one or more of the above requirements may be adjusted.
