Food safety certifications and the enduring fight against food fraud
In 2025, food safety isn’t just about hygiene—it’s about trust, transparency, and integrity. That’s why leading food safety certification schemes recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) have embedded food fraud prevention directly into their core requirements.
World Food Safety Day — Our Commitment to Global Food Safety
World Food Safety Day on June 7th reminds us of the many challenges in ensuring global food security. For us at Kiwa, as a leading accredited certifier, this day is vital to highlighting our commitment to maintaining high food safety standards — in support of our customers and the betterment of the planet as a whole.
A New Foundation for Food Safety — What ISO 22002-100:2025 Means for the Industry
In July 2025, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) released a full revision of the ISO 22002 series. At the centre of this update is ISO 22002-100:2025, a new foundational standard that redefines how prerequisite programs (PRPs) are structured and applied. For professionals working in food safety it is more than ‘just another update’. It’s a strategic shift.
What are GFSI benchmarking requirements for food safety and why is it beneficial?
In the food industry sector, the food safety and quality of products is a priority. Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) benchmarking requirements provide a solid foundation of trust for consumers and stakeholders. Kiwa as a certification body is aligned against the Certification Programme Owner (CPO) ‘s requirements to perform audits. As a certification body we help business to get GFSI recognized certificates.
