BRL-K21011/03 GRP tanks for the above ground storage of chemicals

Glass fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) tanks are widely used for the storage of chemicals. The tanks are designed for a maximum pressure of 0.5 bar and temperature of -40 to +120 °C. The BRL-K21011 requirements are based on the requirements of NEN-EN 13121-1 t/m -5.

BRL-K21011 is intended for suppliers/producers of storage tanks and catchment tanks.

When is it required?

Supplying/producing storage tanks and catchment tanks under the product certificate BRL-K21011 gives users the confidence that they have been produced under a quality assurance system regularly audited by Kiwa.

Upon delivery, each storage tank or catchment tank is provided with a certificate of conformity. This certificate of conformity together with the tank installation certificate according to BRL SIKB 7800 provides the competent authority the confidence that its safe and reliable. The BRL-K21011 certificate of conformity and the tank installation certificate according to BRL SIKB 7800 are also a proof of compliance with the Dutch laws and regulations.

For the companies that do not fall within the scope of Ministerial regulations, the requirements regarding above ground storage of chemicals are regulated in the associated environmental permit. The licensing authority often uses this BRL (in)directly via, for example, PGS 31 and the BRL SIKB 7800.
