Motorcycles

Over 1,600 motorcycles were stolen in 2018. Approximately 21 percent of them was recovered. Below you can read how to reduce the chance of your motorcycle being stolen and how you can increase the chance that your motorcycle will be recovered after theft.

Do you want to prevent your motorcycle from being stolen? Protect it with a Kiwa SCM approved electronic protection (immobilizer or alarm system). An immobilizer (class M1) is an electronic safety device that, by means of a blockage, prevents a motorcycle from being moved under its own power. An alarm system (Class M2) also has a blocking, but also provides an optical and acoustic alarm if the tilt detection is triggered.

You can increase the chance that your motorcycle will be recovered after theft by installing a recovery system, vehicle tracking system or a two-wheeler tracking system. Kiwa SCM has been certifying recovery systems for motorcycles since 1 June 2016. A recovery system must be able to find vehicles in the Netherlands within 24 hours..
