RED Delegated Act: proposed date of adoption October 2021 with a transition period of 30 months

To protect smart devices, which are available on the European market, against for example hacks and data leaks, compliance to the ETSI EN 303 645 articles 3.3 d, e and f of the Radio Equipment Directive (2014/53/EU) will become mandatory through means of a delegated act. The proposed adoption period starts from October 2021, with a 30 month transition period. After the transition period compliance to these three articles will become mandatory.

The European Commission has notified the draft delegated regulation on cybersecurity. The comment period ends on September 21, 2021. The proposed date of adoption is October 2021. Of particular interest is the transition period of 30 months mentioned in the draft delegated regulation. This transition period must be observed in particular by manufacturers and RED Notified Bodies.
