Wim van Loon Appointed as the New Managing Director of Kiwa Nederland

As of January 6, 2025, Wim van Loon will be appointed Managing Director of Kiwa Nederland. Kiwa operates globally in the TIC sector (Testing, Inspection, and Certification), with Kiwa Nederland being one of the group’s largest entities. Van Loon (58) has held senior leadership roles throughout his career in the TIC industry. In his new role, Wim Van Loon will report directly to Nicolas Kyndt, COO EMEA and member of Kiwa's Management Board.

Kiwa and KNRB extend and strengthen partnership

Kiwa has extended its successful collaboration with the Royal Dutch Rowing Federation (KNRB) for another two years. Kiwa Vinçotte now also a certified body for nuclear inspections in the Netherlands

On 10 July 2024, it was officially announced in the Dutch government gazette Staatscourant that Kiwa subsidiary Vinçotte has been designated as a certified body for nuclear inspections in the Netherlands for the next two years. This designation allows Vinçotte to conduct inspections for nuclear pressure equipment during all phases of the inspection process, including design, commissioning and operation.

One revised ISO 27001, three different versions

When a standard is no longer up-to-date, it needs to be revised. This happened with ISO 27001 for information security in 2022. In the years following, the standard received several minor updates, resulting in three different versions: ISO/IEC 27001:2022, ISO/IEC 27001:2023 and ISO/IEC 27001:2024.

Kiwa SCM launches electronic e-bike security certification

In response to this, vehicle security specialist Kiwa SCM has launched the 'Electronic Security Systems for Two-Wheelers' certification mark, aimed at the independent certification of bicycle GPS tracking systems.

Video: The Lower Flammability Limit of Hydrogen

Dutch energy distributor Alliander asked Kiwa to research and visualize the combustion of hydrogen at low concentrations. Kiwa developed a special test box and recording. The video shows that at low concentrations, the probability of ignition of hydrogen is lower compared with natural gas.

ISO integrates climate change into management systems
30 April 2024
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) took a historic step on 23 February 2024, by incorporating climate change into a wide range of management system standards. This means that climate change is now a mandatory component of no less than 31 system standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001, and ISO 50001. The changes took effect immediately upon publication.
