Circularity and Recycling

Circularity

Circular entrepreneurship

In an ever-changing world where raw materials are becoming scarce there is a great need for circular entrepreneurship. On a global level, materials and products must be handled in a more sustainable way. The word circularity is crucial to reach that goal. Unfortunately currently the global economy is only 8.6% circular. This means that over 90% of the raw materials entering the economy is ultimately wasted and is not recycled. Circular entrepreneurship is necessary to change this and to further increase this global percentage.

Circular economy

The aim of a circular economy is to maximize the reuse of products and raw materials and minimize the loss of value at the same time. Or in other words: using products, raw materials and services in an economic and smart way.  This means designers have to think carefully in advance about the materials they want to use and how these can be reused when the end-of-life of a product has been reached.

Recycling

To achieve a circular economy we have to produce better-quality, traceable secondary materials. Recycling plays an important role in extracting and reusing usable raw materials from waste. The recycling experts and auditors from Kiwa have a specific knowledge about different kind of materials (plastics, metals electronics, concrete etc.) on how to reycle wihtout losing quality. They can help you guarantee the quality of your recycling products.

Why Kiwa's recycling experts?

In recent years the recycling industry has developed strongly. It has to, because the current economic growth leads to more production and consumption and therefore also to more waste flows. The recycling industry works hard: for example, in the Netherlands we currently recycle over 80% of all waste. Quality is a core condition in this process. Kiwa recycling experts and auditors can help you with this.
