Kiwa Turkey now accredited for assessment and certification of Safe Tourism

Kiwa Turkey is now accredited by the Turkish Ministry of Tourism for assessment and certification of Safe Tourism. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, organizations offering tourism services in Turkey must meet government requirements to restart their business again. The rules apply to hotels, hostels and resorts, the hospitality industry including restaurants, cafes, bars, and tour operators.

Certification demonstrates that organizations active in the tourism industry, apply the right Corona preventive measures set by the Turkish government. Certification is not mandatory, but it shows customers that the organization has taken proven measures to minimize the risk of Corona infection.

International certification scheme

The accreditation scheme for Safe Tourism is developed by the Tourism Development Agency (TGA), part of the Turkish Ministry of Tourism. The certification scheme and its accreditation are internationally oriented and only Notified Bodies that are globally active can receive an accreditation. Kiwa Turkey is now able to audit and certify organizations in Turkey, and we are working on receiving this accreditation for other Kiwa offices so we can perform this certification in more countries. The criteria are available in Turkish, English, German and Russian.

The certification is now oriented on the COVID-19 pandemic, but in the future, it will be continued as a global brand for the tourism industry, like BRC, IFS and GlobalGAP are for other industries.

We are proud to be one of the first organizations that offer this certification service.
